OUR OCEAN, THE PLANET’S LARGEST ECOSYSTEM IS ENDANGERED
Human activity is choking the ocean

Around 17 million metric tons of plastic enters our oceans each year
The main sources of marine pollution are land-based, leading to a seemingly unstoppable flow of litter, waste and run-off into the ocean.
Plastic pollution each year is expected to double or triple by 2040, threatening all marine life.
Human activites harm marine life, coastal communities, and human health.
The ocean obsorbs 23% of human-generated Co2 and 90% of excess heat. This causes record ocean heat, marine heatwaves, and deaths, harming ecosystems and threatening climate change mitigation.
Our waste pollutes oceans, our seafood consumption contributes to overfishing, and our tourism choices affect marine habitats
Pollution created by humans leaves marine species vulnerable, and we notice more fatalities than ever. Including the coral reefs, which are known as the lungs of the planet.
But, by breaking the habits..
..each and everyone of us can make a difference!
It all comes down to how we decide to behave

What actions can we do as individuals?
- Find a Goal 14 charity you want to support. Any donation, big or small, can make a difference!
- Cut waste by avoiding plastic, as their improper usage and single-use disposal is a significant source of ocean pollution.
- Organize a community cleanup of nearby rivers, oceans, or coasts. Or simply contribute by yourself.
- Reduce carbon emissionsby minimizing your carbon footprint by conserving energy, using eco-friendly transportation options, and supporting renewable energy sources.
- Share knowledge with others about the importance of marine conservation and inspire them to join efforts in protecting marine life.
